iPod, Zune, iRiver, etc. STUPID DRM!
So I bought that DRM bull schnickens with iTunes. What that is, is copy protection stuff imbedded in my mp3’s. So you can only play them on iTunes and iTunes related devices. So it concerns me because all my music was bought on iTunes.. and well now that im having panic attacks from no iPod and that iPhone is on its way in and I REALLY dont want to switch over to ATT… I found a solution well kinda.. Its called Rhapsody and Napster.. THey have unlimited music plans for 15 bucks a month.. all you an eat, but.. the kicker is they WONT work on ipod.. so i could get away with getting a Zune, iRiver, any of those other mp3 players that support their business model. If I DID get this plan, my mom, alex and sister would be cut off from my NEW music unless they got new devices. The other handi-cap is their music collection is not as large as itunes, but its like 6 million songs or something like that. OK i think chances are they will have what i want…
I do think though that I just want one device. A cross between Cel Phone and MP3. Just one… that iPhone is looking more and more like an option. Of course I could just stay with Verizon and upgrade to the dare, which is Rhapsody enabled.. so I can do the unlimited music thing for 15 bucks and just use the dare as my Cel/Mp3 player and stay with Verizon…
Idears?

Oh Shal
I worry about my bills just as well and have been through the fire more often than not (yep mortgage, loan to alex’ parents, 2 car payments (mine n Alex), Alex’ Medidcal bills, insurance, pge, cable, Cel bills, eating etc.. We cut corners all the time to give ourself the little extra we can. The difference in my situation is No chilrens and 2 incomes, but still.. i am far from the pic of what I believe you are painting of me. I have this money put away for my device (What was going to be my iPhone), I am indecisive because i saved up for it and now im not sure its a wise move to switch to ATT, so im looking for an affordable solution is all. I dont just pop money outa my ass, although that would be nice.

Good Lord! LOL I don’t even know what to say… not can i actually give any opinion, the only time I’ve even seen an MP3 player is a $20 one that my brother got me one time on sale and that plays songs he put on it for me.
You are asking the wrong kinda gal for help here! I know nothing about such devices, I’m one of those people kinda in Shalon’s type of boat so I can’t be of assistance to your “problem” today cousinito, I’m so sorry
I still love you tho, if that counts for something?
LOL
*hugs*
Good luck with finding a solution to such a dramatic erm and possibly traumatic and consequential troubles!
hmm…. this post sounds kinda bitchy but is not, i’m just saying that’s all… *goes to hide already*

I had a “friend” that got pissed at the DRM stance of Apple and the music labels and took his iTunes collection and ran it through a utility he found called Requiem (Google: Requiem freenet) and simply removed the DRM so he could enjoy the music he PURCHASED, after his iPod broke, on his mp3 capable phone that he already owned. He now wonders what to do with all the cassette tapes he has.
or so I heard…

Tell your friend to hook up a cassette player/stereo to his computer and record those tapes using Audacity
. Free, pretty easy to use, and saves to multiple formats, including MP3 and WAV
. Quality varies, but it beats losing the music. Now to get a new belt for my turntable so I can record all my old LPs…
